Backed as unbeatable, the chestnut, as expected, was the .first to beome prominent to be three lengths clear at the end of a furlong, With half a mile to go she- had increased her lead to six lengths, but shortly after turning for home began to stop under her 9.7, and, althojigh she held on gamely, was beaten ffito fourth place. If she has taken no hirin' from her courageous effort Excellency should take a lot of heating under the wejght-fo.r-age scale in the North Island Challenge Stakes at Trentham. tomorrow.
