Court Charges Against Union Men In Brisbane

(Rec. 11.45 a.m.) BRISBANE, This Day.

When 100 Brisbane pickets continued to defy the drastic new antipicketing law, the police replied by issuing summonses to the men whose names had been taken.

Six summonses to appear at court today were issued to the men, who included Mr M. Healy, secretary of the Queensland Trades and Labour Council, and Mr E. Englart, Queensland secretary of the Waterside Workers’ Federation.

The men will answer charges of counselling disobedience of an order of the Industrial Court instructing the ment to return to work.

“Our names were taken while we were outside the oil depot,” said Mr Healy. “We welcome the prosecution.”

Offer To Railwaymen

A conference yesterday between the Premier (Mr E. M. Hanlon) and the Railways Commissioner (Mr Maloney) has been followed today by a formal meeting between Mr Maloney and some members of the Tracies ~ Hall Disputes Committee. Trades Hall reports say that Mr Maloney has offered to pay fitters an extra 12s 4d a week as a basis for a settlement of the strike.
