GREYMOUTH TEAMS FOR U.F.B.A. DEMONSTRATION
Greymouth Fire Brigades will be well represented at the United Fire Brigades’ demonstration and conference at Wanganui next week. Teams from the Greymouth and Greymouth Railway brigades will compete in various demonstration events and the Cobden brigade, while not competing, will have a delegate at the association conference.
Two members of the Greymouth brigade, Motormen J. Grant and H. Kirk, have been selected as officials for the demonstration and will accompany the Greymouth team, which will comprise the following members: Firemen J. Hoggarth, G. Nelson jun., L. Stewart, G. Shaw and D. Kirk. The conference delegate will be Fireman F. Costello and Fireman L. Patterson will also attend the demonstration. The Greymouth Railway brigade’s team will comprise Superintendent J. McGirr and Firemen K. Horrack, A. Smith, J. Earl, E. Kerridge and J. Hibbs. Superintendent McGirr will be the conference delegate. Fireman W. Jackson will represent the Cobden brigade at the association conference and Fireman P. Pascoe, also of Cobden, will attend the demonstration.
The Greymouth teams and the delegates will leave for Wanganui on Thursday. The first function will be a combined church parade on Sunday and the conference will be held on Monday and Tuesday. The demonstration will extend over three days, Thursday, Friday and Saturday and the teams will return to Greymouth on March 9.
