REEFTON GRANITY SILVER BAND’S VISIT

(0.C.) REEFTON, This Day. Members of Granity Silver Band visited Reefton on Sunday. The band were the guests of the Inangahua Silver Band at morning tea on, their arrival. The visiting b a nd combined with the Inangah.ua Silver Band to play a short programme at the Reef ton Hospital The combined bands marched to the hospital. In the afternoon the bands marched to the rotunda in the King George V Memorial Park, where they played selections, marches and ■ hymns. There was a large attendance. The Inangahua Silver Band was making its first public appearance in its new uniforms.

At the close of the rotunda programme, the bands marched via Smith street, Buller road, Walsh street and Broadway to the band room, led by Drum Major J. Kerr, of the Granity Band. COAL PRODUCTION

Reefton district coal mines in the week ended February 21 produced 2408 tons of coal, an increase of over 400 tons on the output in the corresponding week in 1947.
