DENMARK WILL EXPORT MORE FOOD TO BRITAIN
COPENHAGEN, February 22.
The Danish Foreign Office has announced a new trade agreement with Britain by which Denmark will supply up to September 31, 40,000 tons of butter at £l6 Is 6d per cwt, 80 ner cent, of her exportable bacon surplus amounting to 22,000 tons, at £ll 5s per cwt. and also 85 per cent, of her' exportable egg surplus, amounting to 18.700 tons, at Is 6d per lb. The announcement added that the prices agreed upon were considerably higher than formerly, butter being increased 33 per cent., bacon 40 per cent., and eggs 48 per cent. Britain will deliver to Denmark at least . 870,000 tons of . coal and 55,000 tons of iron and steel.
The agreement provides for the use by Denmark of sterling for certain payments outside the sterling bloc, for example, the purchase of nitrogen fertilisers from Chile,
