CLUB FINED. £100 FOR UNLICENSED LIQUOR SALES

(P.A.) AUCKLAND, This Day. Unlicensed sales of liquor on three occasions were admitted by the United Club (Incor.) which was fined a total of £lOO by the Magistrate today. A man, who, the police said, appeared to be barman at the club, Frank George Gray, was fined a similar amount.

Three hundred and seventy-two bottles of beer were seized at the club, which had 71 members, according to the prosecution.

Counsel for the club said it was well run and the guests were kept under strict supervision.

The police raid took place on the last, night of the club’s existence.
