WOOL INSTRUCTOR APPOINTED FOR WESTLAND AREA
Wool instruction previously carried out by the Department of Agriculture, from the livestock division in Wellington, has been decentralised, and New Zealand has been divided into six areas, for each of which an instructor has been appointed. The appointment for Canterbury and Westland is Mi - I. >-> Miller, of Christchurch, who started his duties some weeks ago. His area includes the Canterbury province from the Conway river in the north to the Rangitata in the south, and Westland as far north as Punakaiki. The main object of the appointments is to assist farmers in improving the standard of wool. Mr Miller will give lectures to farmers organisations and young farmers clubs, will show several film strips, and later arrange demonstrations of classing in the'field. . At present Mr Miller is chiefly engaged on organising'the new branch of the livestock division, and it may be some weeks before he is able to begin field work. The head of the livestock division of the department in Christchurch (Mr H. Doyle) said it-was expected that the appointment of wool instructors would prove of benefit to all wool growers.
