INTEGRITY OF DOMINION PRESS NEW SERVICE
(P.A.) AUCKLAND, October 23. Commenting tonight on Mr Randolph Churchill’s reference to the press, the chairman of the direclois. of the New Zealand Press Associawon (Mr J. M. Hardcastle) said Mr Churchill appeared to refer to the newspaper press ano not only to the newspapers of i\ew Zealand. “His criticism may not impressed many,” he added, “but it may be desirable to stress the importance attached by the press of New Zealand to the integrity of its news service. Its constant endeavour is to present to the public fairly the viewpoints of all sides on important controversial issues. “The does not regard it as a reflection on its own fairness when, as has happened on occasions, each of two opposing parties has considered that the other side has been given better treatment than ithas merited. Indeed, it may not be unreasonable to regard this as evidence of the absence of bias.”
