FORMER PUPILS OF GREY HIGH SCHOOL REVIVE ASSOCIATION
The Old Students’ Association was revived last evening when a large gathering of former pupils of the Greymouth Technical High School discussed its reformation. Mr W. S. H. Wick, the past vice-president of the association, said the history of the association had been unhappy and spasmodic, and it would be unfortunate if the school could not produce a static Old Pupils’ Association after 25 years’ service to the community. It was unanimously decided that the association be revived and that the meeting be the annual meeting—the first since 1940. The following officers were elected: —Patron, Mr W. M. Stewart; president, Mr W. S. H. Wick; vice-president, Mr N. Smith; secretary, Mr R. Cowan; treasurer, Miss E. Methven: committee, Messrs H. C. Hooper, K. Gillespie, and T, Blackie, jun., and Miss P, Parkinson. Mr Stewart, addressing the meeting, expressed his pleasure at the apparent interest in the revival of the association, and spoke briefly of the policy of such an association in being a recognised force in the school and the community. It was decided to give all possible assistance to the school fete next month and that a further general meeting be held on November 20, to which the executive would present proposals for the revision of the constitution. Arrangements could then be made for the association to make a contribution to the celebration of the twenty-fifth anniversary of the school.
