Priority Milk Ration Cut In Britain

(Rec. 11.20 a.m.) LONDON, Oct. 14

The loss of 30,000,000 gallons of milk as a result of the severe winter and the dry summer has forced the Ministry of Food to cut the allowances of fresh milk for priority customers in Britain, including babies, invalids, and children. The allowance will be cut from seven to six pints weekly from October 19. The invalids’ allowance will be cut by twosevenths, so that some will receive 10 pints instead of 14 and others five instead of seven. The milk thus saved will be used to build up the stocks of baby food for use in the winter. The Ministry says the stocks have fallen below the safety level.

The Ministry is making no official cut in the ordinary ration, which is at present two pints weekly, but admits that suppliers may have difficulty in meeting .it.
