PERSONAL

Mr and Mrs G. Griffiths left today for Wellington, where they will reside.

Mr and Mrs C. McKechnie, who are retiring from business, after conducting the Empire Hotel at Greymouth for 25 years, were bidden farewell by a large number of friends on Thursday evening. Many tributes were paid to Their popularity, and on behalf of the gathering Mr J. W. Hannan made presentations of a necklace to Mrs McKechnie and a wristlet watch to Mr McKechnie. Mr T. Anderson, of Christchurch, will take over the hotel on Tuesday.
