OBITUARY Mrs L. B. Goldie

The death occurred early this morning in Wellington of Mrs Lydia Black Goldie, of Hataitai. Mrs Goldie was. a native of Greymouth, being a member of the Barkley family. She is survived by her husband, one daughter and three sons; also two sisters, Mesdames McDougall (Auckland) and Longstaff (Blaketown). Mr Thomas Picken The death occurred suddenly at his residence, Cobden, yesterday afternoon, of Mr Thomas Picken, aged 74 years. Mr Picken, who was a native of Dunedin, served in the Boer War and later in the First World War, with the Imperial Army in India, where he was a Sergeant-Major and won the D.C.M. Mr Picken was formerly employed by the Railways Department, and had resided in Greymouth for the past 27 years. He is survived by his wife, one son Albert, and four daughters, Mesdames M. R. McPherson (Blaketown), R. Quinney (Cobden), and Misses Joyce and Dulcie Picken, of Cobden. One sister was killed in England in the First World War. The funeral will take place at Karoro cemetery tomorrow afternoon. Mr A. G. Walker The death occurred at the Reefton Hospital this morning of Mr Alfred George Walker, aged 71 years. Mr Walker was a native of Nelson, but he was engaged in farming at Rockland, Buller Gorge, for many years. He was unmarried. The interment, which will be private, will take place at Reefton on Monday.

The funeral of Mr Nathaniel White took place on Thursday afternoon. The services at the house and at the graveside were conducted by the Rev. J. Silvester. The funeral of Mrs Mary Jane Purnell took place yesterday afternoon at the Karoro Cemetery. The services at Runanga and at the graveside were conducted by the Rev. A. R. Miller.
