Sir Oliver Franks, chairman of the Marshal Plan Committee of European Co-operation, said ihe : figure of £7,250,000,000 which’ had been mentioned as the total aid Fairope required was purely a provisional figure used by the statistical group of the conference. He said the figure did not represent the considered view of the conference and it was imorobable that the final figure would be identical.
