T.U.C. ACCEPTS LABOUR DIRECTION
LONDON, Aug. 28
The general council of the Trades Union Congress, in accepting the Government’s plan for the direction of labour, urged the bringing into industry of those who were at present “making no contribution to the national well-being.” An official statement said the general council accepted the view of the Government that, to be effective, the Control of Engagements Order will involve a limited direction of labour. ~ A member of the general council told Reuters that the decision meant that the direction of labour would become the most vital topical issue of the annual T.U.C. congress at Southport next week.
