PLIGHT OF N.Z. BURSARS IN ENGLAND
(P.A.) WELLINGTON, This Day. New Zealand rehabilitation bursars in England had found it so difficult to carry on their studies with the £250 bursary and special fees that they had been forced to spend their gratuities; said Mr C. O. Bell, president of the N.Z.R.S.A., who with the immediate past-president, Mr B. J. Jacobs, returned to Wellington from London today. The position of some was so bad, said Mr Bell, that he had cabled the National Patriotic Fund Board, Wellington, asking that credit be made available to the bursars. The board had responded and a committee had been set up in London with the consent of the High Commissioner to study individual cases and provide as-* sistance until the Government could deal with the matter.
