BRITAIN GRANTS FAVOURABLE TERMS TO AUSTRIA

(Rec. 10.55 a.m.) LONDON, August 11.

Britain has notified the Chancellor of Austria, Dr Figi, that she is prepared to agree to deferment to the end of 1947 of the repayment of debts incurred before March 14, 1938, and also the deferment of payments of the occupation costs so that Austria can use her earnings ip external currency to pay for imports and essential services.

Austria has agreed to the British condition that the other occupying Powers should not get more favourable eventual settlement terms.
