RUNANGA PRIZEWINNERS AT CHILDREN’S ANNUAL BALL

There was a large attendance at the annual children’s ball, held in the Miners’ Hall at Runangq on Friday night, the function being one of the most successful of its kind yet held.

Many of the children wore fancy costume and the standard was uniformly high, making the task of the judges most difficult. The prize list was as follows:— Best fancy, girl, “Made in New Zealand,” Beverly Coburn; best fancy, boy, “Aladdin,” Alan Hall; special fancy, girl, “Ice Cream,” Gaynor Blair; special fancy, boy, “Pirate,” Leo Garmonsway; most original, girl, “Laundry,” Jean Devine; most original, boy, “Power Shut-off,” Petei' Fisher; cheapest dress, girl, “Cigarette Club,” J. Symons; cheapest dress, boy, “Pigmy,” Terry Patterson; lucky spot, girl, Miss Finn, Miss Sharp. Under s:—Best fancy, girl, “Christmas Cake,” Evelyn Dalziell; best fancy, boy, “Clown,” Frank Sweeney; monte carlo, Nelly Summers and Pat Fitzgibbons; youngest child, David McKane; lucky spot, Ila Jackson and William Pinn; lucky seat, Mrs T. Watson senr.; extra prize, “Dave and Mabel,” Jean Watson and Elva Naisbitt.
