20 KILLED IN U.S. AIR CRASH

(Rec. 9.55 a.m.) NEW YORK, July 13. About 20 persons were killed when a D.C. 3 airliner crashed in a swamp near Melbourne, Florida, at dawn today. Rescuers who reached the scene .several hours after the crash said that 17 were killed and there were nine survivors, including three trapped 1 inside.

The Red Cross announced the casualties as 21 killed and 12 injured. All the passengers wore Puerto Ricans. Some of the bodies were found buried in the mud of the swamp.

The plane, Which was not operated by a regular airline, was cn route from Augusta, Georgia, to Puerto Rica.
