AUSTRALIA AIMS TO SEND TEAM OF 60 TO GAMES
(Rec. 12.15 p.m.) SYDNEY, This Day.
The proposed Australian team for the Olympic Games in London next year has been increased from 40 to 60. This was decided by the Australian Olympic Federation, which also decided to aim to raise £25,000 to pay the cost of the transport, training and maintenance of the team.
If this money is not raised by public subscription, , each State Olympic council will be asked to organise appeals for its own representatives. The controlling union of each sport will be empowered to elect its own representatives to the team, subject to the federation’s approval. If funds cannot be found to send all selected, each union will withdraw representatives according to their ranking.
