WELLINGTON, This Day. • The Court of Appeal today com-i menced hearing argument in the appeal of Peggy Armstrong Coutts, oi Wellington, a married woman, against the decision of Mr Justice Johnston,on October 18, 1946, reducing the amount of maintenance payable by the respondent, Douglas Evelyn Coutts, of Auckland, a soldier, £2 10s 9d per week to £2 per week. Counsel for the appellant contend-/ ed that if this judgment were upheld the effect would be that no person who obtained a fixed amount of maintenance by agreement with her husband under a separation agreement could rely on this agreement being permanent or surviving divorce pioceedings.
