Dominion Committed To Spend 664,500 Dollars On Relief

(Rec 9.30 a.m.) v MONTREAL, March 17. A Lake Success message says that Mr Walter Nash to-day signed on behalf of New Zealand the constitution of the International Refugee Organisation. „ -x j New Zealand has been allotted 044 per cent of the organisation s first operational budget, which aggregates 151,000,000 dollars. Thus New Zealand is committed to contribute over 664,500 dollars. The United Kingdom is the only other country which has so far undertaken a definite commitment, her share being 14.75 per cent. The United .States contribution of 45.75 per cent was recently approved by the Senate and is now awaiting further legislative procedure. The organisation’s constitution is not enforceable until 15 States have unconditionally subscribed 75 per cent of the first year’s operational budget. ___________________
