AUCKLAND MAX HAVE STALE BREAD FOR EASTER

(P.A.) AUCKLAND, This Day. Auckland’s domestic felicity, already harried by electric blackouts and practically no gas, is further threatened by the possibility of stale bread for Easter. Whether this city s suffering housewives will be on the stale breadline then, is in the hands of the bread carters, who will meet in the Trades Hall to-morrow night to decide if they will deliver on Easter Saturday. If they decide to deliver, bread will be baked on Good Friday for delivery to city and suburban shops which are open for selling bread on Saturday morning. If the carters decline delivery on Saturday, the bakers can see no point in baking bread on Good Friday with the result that Thursday’s bread will have to last until the following Tuesday.
