BARRACKS WEEK

HIGH SCHOOL PUPILS’ TRAINING Barracks week is being held at the Greymouth Technical High School this week, with both boys and girls taking nart in specialised outdoor exercise." The boys, as members of the school cadet company, have been engaged in various military exercises, which have been conducted by military officers. A physical education expert, Mr Rodger, has been leading the boys in this department of the week s wcrk. and an extensive swimming programme has also been carried out for both boys and girls. Miss N. Romans, physical education officer stationed in the Grey district, has been in charge of the physical culture programme for the girls. Until to-day an outdoor programme was followed, but the showers of rain this morning compelled the adoption of an alternative indoor course. Mr G. Ormandy and Miss J. McNiven, of the school staff, have been in charge of the pupils. The barracks will end to-morrow.
