CUTTING THE COSTS

(Rec. 11.20 a.m.) LONDON, Feb. 19. Well-informed sources disclose that the British Government, to cut down the occupation costs, will speed the repatriation or emigration from the British zone in Germany of displaced persons who wish to leave, and. direct the rest to productive labour on the same basis as Germans, says Reuter’s Herford correspondent. This decision means the virtual end of the displaced persons’ status in the zone, which now contains 270,000 displaced persons.
