ARMED BURGLAR

SYDNEY HOUSEIIOLDER INJURED (Recd. 11.45 a.m.) SYDNEY, This Day. A householder in the suburb .of Auburn was admitted to hospital suffering from serious head wounds after a struggle with an armed burglar. The family was in bed when the wife told the householder that there was a man ransacking the lounge room. As he entered the room, the burglar raised a sawn-off shotgun and shot him in the face at pointblank range. Though 15 pellets penetrated the cheek and ear, narrowly missing his . eyes, the householder grappled with the man. The burglar belaboured him with the shotgun until the weapon was broken and he then escaped.
