(Rec. 12.30 p.m.) WASHINGTON, Feb. 13. The Public Health Service reports that births in the United States in 1946 totalled 3,260,000, constituting an all-time record. The previous highest total was 2,934,000 in 1943, while the 1945 total was 2,735,000. The birth-rate was 23.3 per thousand, which is considerably lower than in 1921 and earlier years. The death-rate was 10.1 per thousand, compared with 10.6 in 1945.
