MR AV 11. PRESTON TO LEAVE • . GREYMOUTH * Mr. W. H. Preston, train running officer, Railways Department, Greymouth, has been promoted to the position of transport officer, district traffic manager’s office, Invercargill. He will leave shortly for Invercargill. Mr. Preston came to Greymouth from Invercargill over ten years ago his appointment coinciding with the introduction of the rail-car service to the West Coast. Since then he has been train running officer here and at times acting-stationmaster. The name of his successor at Greymouth has not been announced. . Also included in the list of South Island promotions affecting the staff of the Railway Department, -is Mr. I. N. Barkle, stationmaster at Rakaia, who has been transferred to the position of stationmaster at Westport, where he will replace Mr. Annibal.
