ICE-FREE LAND
ANTARCTIC DISCOVERY NEW YORK, Feb. IL Scouting aircraft of the Byrd expedition discovered a remarkable 40-miles wide oasis of lakes and low hills of apparently bare earth. They are located in an area which is completely devoid of ice. The expedition’s • leaders said that they considered this discovery is of the greatest geological significance and that possibly this area might be warm enough to support all round the year human settlement comfortably. Despatches said that some of the lakes were big enough for .the expedition’s flying boats to usb.
