CAREER OF CRIME
THREE YOUTHS SENT TO GAOL SYDNEY, February 12. Three teen-age youths, who had embarked on a career of crime, were each sentenced to five yeais gaol for two smash and grab raids, and for being in possession of a stolen car. The boys came from Goulburn. Their ages range from 17 to 15 years. The three were at one time model Sunday School pupils, and wore members of the Fairfield Boys Police Club. , The police, in a report, stated that The police, in a report, stated that the boys ran away from home, stole cars, and pilfered as they travelled a distance of over 3000 miles visiting Melbourne, Adelaide and Renmark. In one case, one boy stood guard with a loaded rifle, while the others carried out a robbery. Later, when they suspected a police pursuit, they pointed a rifle through the car window. , „ , The judge dismissed, pleas for leniency on the part of the boys’ parents. The judge said that he was determined to convince adults and children that crime did not pay. In all such cases, his sympathies were with the victims, not with the criminals.
