(Recd. 11.45 a.m.) MELBOURNE, This Day. Federal statisticians; estimate the probable eventual cost to Australia of the recent variations to the wage-pegging regulations at £50,000,000 yearly. This was stated by the acting Chief Judge, Mr. Drake Brockman, in the Federal Arbitration Court during the hearing of an application for penalty rates for week-end work. The estimate of £50,000,000 is said to represent an increase of about £25 yearly for every member of the working population in Australia.
