80 To 100 Acres Swept By Fire

A message received just prior to the Evening Star going to press stated that 80 to 100 acres of cut-over bush had been swept by the fire, but that the flames were considered to be well under control. A watch was being kept in the event of wind causing the fire to burn up again. About 20 men fought the flames throughout the night, and approximately 70 men were on the job to-day, working in relays. Between 30 and 40 stirrup pumps were used in quelling the flames.
