INDIAN DISCUSSIONS ROUND-TABLE CONFERENCE . ATTEMPT BOTH PARTIES ADAMANT (Rec. 9.35 a.m.) . LONDON, December 5. All attempts to bring the Indian delegates together round the conference table have failed, says the Evening News. The Prime Minister, Mr. Attlee, the Cabinet mission members and the Viceroy, Lord Wavell, are meeting again to-night, but only to-morrow remains before Pandit Nehru and Mr. Singh must begin the return journey. All four Indian delegates were together to-day as luncheon guests of the King. As the Moslem League members, Mr. Jinnah and Ali Khan, have not yet arranged their departure from London, it is regarded as certain that there will be no Moslem representatives at the Constituent Assembly’s inaugural session at Delhi on Monday. According to The Times Parliamentary correspondent, Lord Wavell will remain in London for a few days for further consultations. It is impossible to arrange for Cabinet Ministers to meet the Indian leaders to-day, but further meetings will be arranged for to-morrow. The Government intends to persist with its efforts to bring about accommodation between the Indian communities. The' consequences of failure would be grave for the future of India. Reuter’s Calcutta correspondent reports that the police fired several times against rioters to-day. Three were killed and 77 injured. Three policemen were injured.
