FUEL CRISIS
BRITAIN MAY IMPOSE COAL RATIONING LONDON, October 17. Drastic restrictions on fuel consumption .in Britain are contemplated by the Government in the near future, unless there is a considerable improvement in the coal situation, says ■he Daily Telegraph’s political correnondent. Contemplated restrictions include a ririct rationing system for all domestic and industrial users, and compulsory “fuel watching” in all industrial undertakings. The present labour force, in the mines is about 693,000 men. Natural wastage is expected, however, to reduce it to 687,000 men during the year, and it is estimated that only 620,000 effective workers will be available in one year’s time.
