Veteran Tennis Player. The death has occurred at Newport, Rhode Island, of Thomas Pettitt, aged-86, holder of the world court tennis championship from 1885 to 1898. He was the only professional to hold the United States lawn, court, squash and racquets championships simultaneously. He was credited with laying out the first tennis court in the United States when he came to the United States from England in 1873. — New York, October 17.
