THE WEATHER Forecast: Dull with Rain
The following weather forecast was issued by the Meteorological Office, Wellington,- at noon to-day:— Situation: An anti-cyclone is north-east of New Zealand; pressure is low to this south-east with a cold front advancing over the South Island; another low belt is in the North Tasman. Forecast to 5 p.m. to-morrow: Moderate to fresh northerly to north-easterly winds; weather dull with general rain, but conditions improving in South Westland to-morrow; temperatures mild. Further outlook: Continuing rather unsettled. LOCAL RECORDINGS. 9 a.m.: Barometer, 29.99 inches (1015 millibars); thermometer, 56; wind, north (fresh breeze);, sky, overcast with intermittent drizzle; bar, considerable sea; rainfall, 0.06 inches. (The total rainfall to, date this year is 82.66 inches). The depth on the bar at high water yesterday was 24ft. .
