CRICKET Hammond Leads English Averages
LONDON, Sept. 15. The Times says that Hammond, Washbrook and Compton occupied the leading three places in the season’s averages with 84, 68 and 61 respectively. The New Zealander, Donnelly, was fifth with 52. Of the other members of the M.C.C. team Fishlock was eighth with 50, Edrich tenth with 49, Hutton twelfth with 48, Ikin thirteenth with 36, and Hardstaff thirty-second with 35. In the bowling averages, the best member of the M.C.C. team was Wright in seventh position with an average of 18, others being: Edrich twenty-fourth with 19, Bedser thirtysecond with 20; Pollard forty-sixth with 21; Langridge forty-eighth with 22, and Ikin fifty-ninth with 23.
