U.S. Amateur Golf Title. The former professional, Ted Bishop, won the national amateur golf championship, beating the national public links champion “Smiley” Quick 1 up at the thirty-seventh hole. Quick, who led by three holes at the seventeenth, was all square at the twentyseventh and then missed a short putt after halving the last nine holes. Frank Stranahan, the 1945 champion, was eliminated on the first day of match play.—New. York, September 14.
