THEATRE MERGER
WILLIAMSON CHAIN ACQUIRED KERRIDGE-RANK INTERESTS (P.A.) WELLINGTON, AugUSt 10. The Kerridge-Rank theatre interests in New Zealand have acquired the J. C. Williamson Picture Corporation Ltd.’s chain of cinemas throughout the Dominion. Reports to this effect w’ere confirmed by the managing-director of Kerridge-Rank Theatres, Mr R. J. Kerridge, in a telephone interview from’ Auckland last night. “We have been associated with the J. C, Williamson Picture Corporation for a number of years,” said Mr Kerridge, “and the transaction gives us control of the Williamson picture theatres. We have acquired 16 A. grade theatres in various centres of the Dominion and some others.”
The administration of the former Williamson theatres would be transferred from Wellington to Auckland as soon as the change could be conveniently made, he said.
