ANOTHER FINE MONTH
ONLY NINE WET DAYS DURING MAY RECORDINGS AT GREYMOUTH More dry days were experienced at Greymouth during the month of May which ended at midnight last night, than in any month for years past. Rain fell on nine days out of the 31. The total rainfall registered was 5.77 inches. There were a few wet days earlier in the month, but there has been no rainfall since May 18. Last month, however, was by no means the driest May, for last year only 4.53 inches of rain fell, though there were 21 wet days, and in May, 1944, a fall of 5.44 inches was recorded on 12 days. The heaviest fall on any one day last month was 1.60 inches on May 7 compared with 1.35 inches on May 2 last yearand 1.52. on May 30, 1944. The total for the five' months or this year is 33.28 inches, compared with 50.37 up to May 31 last year. The monthly average this year is 6.65 inches, compared with 10.07 inches last year. _________
