Messrs P. D. Wilson and W. C. Bell of the staff of the Chief Post Office, Greymouth, will leave on Saturday to undertake a course of training at the staff training school, Wellington. A motion of condolence with the relations of the late Mr H. W. Kitchingham was carried in silence at last evening’s meeting of the executive of the West Coast Rugby League. Rendered vacant by the retirement of Commander G. H. Dennistoun, D. 5.0., R.N., at the end of last month, the post of commander of the naval training station, H.M.N.Z.S. Tamaki, has now been filled by the appointment of Commander L. P. Bourke, D.S.C. and bar, R.N.Z.N.V.R. Commander Bourke, whose wife, Mrs. H. H. Bourke, lives at Takapuna, was awarded the D.S.C. in 1944 for services in warding off U-boat attacks on Atlantic convoys.
