ENTRY TO PALESTINE

.JEWISH REFUGEES AT

SPEZIA

LONDON, April 16

A sufficient number of certificates for immigration to Palestine will be allotted to permit the 1200 Jewish refugees detained at Spezia to go to Palestine, says Reuter’s Jerusalem correspondent. An assurance of this was giv£ n . a Jewish deputation, including the Chief Rabbi (Dr. Isaac. Hertzog) by the High Commissioner in Palestine (bir Alan Cunningham). The certificates will be drawn from either the current or next month’s quota. The first group of 500 refugees is expected to leave Spezia soon. More than 10,000 wildly enthusiastic Jews gathered outside the offices of the Jewish National Council in Jerusalem when the decision was announced to the 15 hunger-striking Jewish leaders. Their fast “unto death” in sympathy with the Spezia Jews was called off after five days.
