COMMUNIST CONTROL

GERMAN DEMOCRAT LEADER

GIVES WARNING

BERLIN, March 21.

Dr. Kurt Schumacher, the leader of the Social Democratic Party in Western Germany, has declared that attempts are being made to unite the Social Democratic Party and the Communist Party in Berlin, in an effort to force a Communist leadership on the Social Democratic masses of Germany. Dr. Schumacher, in a speech to 2000 members of the Social Democratic Party, declared that such a union has attempted to “resurrect the bankrupt Communist Party.” Such an amalgamation would not stick at the two parties, but it sooner or later, would enroach on the other parties, until only one would be left, giving “in the Kremlin jargon” a z “centralistic democracy,” , Dr. Schumacher declared: “We have had that in Germany for the last 12 years. Now the Germans want to be democrats, but they are not being allowed to do so. We do not want a nationalistic Germany, but a Germany within the united states of Europe.” _____________
