BOXING
CALTAUX KNOCKS OUT
COLLINS (P.A.) WELLINGTON, March 3. Vic Caltaux, 10.0, New Zealand welter weight boxing champion, knocked out Joe Collins, 10.2, in the fourth round of a bout at Petone Recreation Ground on Saturday. Rain marred the attendance. Even so the fight proved only a work-out for Caltaux who was content to stalk his opponent in the first two rounds. Warming up in the third session he dropped Collins twice to the canvas for a count of nine, and 55 seconds after the opening of the fourth round a vicious right to the face again dropped Collins, who crawled round the ropes but he was still down at the count of ten. Till the blows came which dropped him, Collins fought well, and with confidence, his rapier like left leads often scoring, but he did not appear to hurt Caltaux. The bout was a no-title contest, but a catch-weight fight. WOODCOCK FOR AMERICA NEW~YORK, March 3. The British Empire heavyweight boxing champion, Bruce Woodcock, is coming to the United States in May. His first appearance will be at Madison Square Garden, New York, on May 13 against a Detroit heavyweight, Lee Gama.
