BEALEY SHOOTING ACCIDENT
INQUEST OPENED Following the performances of a post-mortem operation at Greymouth last night, an inquest into the death of Reginald George Ferguson, aged 38 years, proprietor of the Bealey Hotel, who was accidentally shot' through the head about 4.45 on Thursday afternoon, was opened at Greymouth this morning before the DeputyCoroner, Mr M. J. Fogarty. After evidence of identification had been given by Lester Atkinson Ferguson, brother of deceased, the proceedings were adjourned sine die. Further details concerning the shooting reveal that deceased and his wife Avere only a short distance from the hotel with the intention of deershooting. Both sat down for a rest; and Mrs Ferguson, removing a .22 Hornet rifle from her shoulder, threw it to the ground, and it discharged, the bullet entering her husband’s! head, killing him instantly. , The funeral will take place at Springfield to-morrow.
