Mr. W. S. McClymont left by plane this morning for Wellington.
Mr. F. E. Mclntyre, who has been serving in the American merchant navy for five years will return to Cobden, to-morrow.
Mr."\T. W. E. Mitchell, who is replacing Mr. E. E. James as Resident Electrical Engineer, Public Works Department, has arrived in .Greymouth.
A New York cablegram stated that Mrs. Bingham, from New Zealand, had arrived at Charleston, and been united with her husband, who saw his daughter, Jennifer, aged ten months, for the first time.
Mr D. J. Pringle, who has been on the staff of the Greymouth branch of the Social Security Department for the past two years, will leave tomorrow on transfer to the Head Office, Wellington. He was met this afternoon by members of the staff, who made him a presentation as an appreciation of his services.
The death occurred yesterday afternoon, at the Grey Hospital, of Mir. George Alfred Stewart, aged 63, who had been engaged in sawmilling in the Kumara district. He is survived by his wife, his daughters, Mrs. H. Ollerenshaw and Miss Janet Stewart, a son, Mr. P. Stewart (ah of Kumara), and a half-brother, Mr. E. Murtha, of Greymouth.
Flying Officer Alex Wicks, son of Mr. and Mrs. A. Wicks, of Kumara Junction, has been awarded the D.F.C. Flying Officer Wicks, who is still in England with the R.A.F. is a former pupil of the Greymouth Technical High School. He is aged 21 years and has been overseas foi' the past four years serving as a pilot.
