WEDDING

SMITH—HILLMAN. The wedding took place recently at St. John’s Presbyterian Church,' Greymouth, Rev. T. G. Campbell officiating, of Ailsa Reaster Hillman, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. E. Hillman,. Blaketown, to Claude Smith, second son of Mr. and Mrs. J. Smith, Cobden. The bride, who was escorted by her father, wore a .gown of magnolia satin made on slim fitting lines. The bodice was finished with tiny satin buttons to the corsage, which was of lace appliqued with satin flowers. From this the skirt was softly gathered and fell to form a long train. The long, tight-fitting sleeves were finished with .points over the hands, while an embroidered tulle veil was arranged in a top-knot and held in place with a spray of double azaleas. She carried a shower bouquet of white roses, clematis, lily of the valley and maidenhair fern. She was attended by her sister, Shirley, and her cousin, Joyce Pupich, wearing identical frocks of lemon and green georgette over satin. Their frocks were made with shirred bodices and sleeves and finished with frilling, buttoned to the waist at the back and finished with a small bow. The frilling was repeated on the skirts, Which fell softly from a gathered waistline. They carried shower bouquets of lemon and pink tulips, roses and maidenhair fern, and wore matching sprays in their hair. Terry Hillman was best man and Jim McClure was groomsman. During the signing of the register, Mrs. V. Fenton sang “O Promise Me.” After the ceremony the guests were received at Herb Moore’s by the bride’s mother, who wore a green wool georgette suit with matching hat and black’ accessories. Her shoulder spray was of pink primulas and maidenhair fern. She was assisted by the bridegroom’s mother, who wore a black frock under a fur coat, and black hat with eye-veil. Her spray was of red ranunculus and maidenhair fern. For travelling the bride _ wore a clover wool georgette suit • with embroidered yoke, under a camel tweed coat, with black accessories. Mr. and Mrs. Smith left for Christchurch, Blenheim and the North Island. —
