SONS WERE BLACKMAILED
LONDON, September 13. James Tait. Bank Street, .Gateshead. had put £3.700, his lite sayings, in a tin box. Ho put the box in a trunk in the attic, which he kept locked. , , Three months ago he discovered that all but £4OO had disappeared. Yesterday, Tait’s two sons aged 14 and 12, were charged with stealing the money, and on being forgiven by their father were placed on probation for two years. , Jt , Tait, who earned substantial sums as a boxer, said he gave his boys 2/6 each a week pocket-money and sent then! to the pictures six times a week “to keep them out of mischief.’" It was stated in the boy’s defence that they had been blackmailed and threatened by others, and later 12 boys of their age were placed on probation for a year. They were said to have had amounts up to £203, About £2OO Was recovered.
