GREYHOUND TRACKS
£59,668,800 TOTE BETS LONDON, August 1. The total sum which passed through the totalisator at greyhound tracks in 1943 was £59,668,800. compared with £36,000,000 in 1938, savs the annual report bf the National Anti-Gambling League. The League states that it secured the figures indeoendently. The report forecasts the settingup of new greyhound racing tracks all over the country. Many applications for betting licenses for new tracks are coming before local authorities, it is stated. « A sub-committee of the” Football Association, the report adds, has recommended that the Government be told that it would be in the national interest if football pools were abolished.
