REEFTON NOTES
[OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT.] REEFTON, September 14. Mr J. B. Auld presided at the monthly meeting of the Council of the Reefton School of Mines. The Mines Department advised that no objection was offered. It was resolved that the Director (Mr W. J. Bolitho) value the plant and building. The Minister of Mines advised that the request for an increase in the Director’s salary had been granted, and.the sum of £5O additional would be paid to this officer, making the salary £5OO pel' annum. The additional £5O would be met by a corresponding increase in subsidy from the Mines Department. The Director (Mr W. J. Bolitho) reported that only the necessary plumbing was required to complete the work on the mine rescue station at the school.—lt was decided to press to have this work completed. The monthly report showed that all classes at the four teaching centres had been carried on, there being now 45 students; of this total 22 were attending classes in Reefton. In addition the regular classes for Reefton High School pupils were held. Eight bullion assays were made during the month.
