With a little more than a week to the end of the financial year, good progress is being made by Kumara in its efforts to double its annual quota of £l3OO in national war savings, and in the attempt being made by Waiuta to fill its quota this year. Investments at Kumara last week amounted to £64/4/-, and the total for the period to date is £2529/13/4. A total of £192 was invested at Waiuta last week, giving a surplus of £157 for the week. Total lodgments last week were £B7l/2/-, with four offices investing more than their, weekly quota requirements. All 10 offices secured their quotas last week. At Hokitika last. week, investments totalled £237, a surplus of £67; at Kumara £64, a surplus of' £39, was invested;, and at Blackball £53, a surplus of £l, was lodged in savings accounts.
